When pop megastar Beyoncé releases new music, it’s a game-changing moment. But no one was prepared for the narrative film album that was Lemonade, coming on the heels of the surprise release of Formation and a defiant Black Panther-themed performance in the Super Bowl halftime show.
Beyoncé championed black Southern womanhood in ways that none of her contemporaries had done. The backlash was swift. Law enforcement blasted the Formation video as anti-police, with its references to police-involved shootings and a sinking cop car in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. Police officers created a “Boycott Beyoncé” movement and threatened to not work security for concerts on her world tour.
I had the time of my life making all of this. thank you all. especially those of you who never let me forget I had to finish. which is basically every one of ya’ll. haha. love you.
Keeping your line-up fresh can put a serious dent in your wallet. The
multiple barber visits throughout the month add up — depending on the rate
of hair growth, you could be shelling out hundreds of dollars, monthly.
Joshua Esnard has patented and created the perfect tool that allows people to save cash and cut their own hairlines.
As
written on the official site, he “created The Cut Buddy in 2000, when
he was 13 years old, and patented multiple designs in January 2015, at
the age of 28.”
It’s flexible – adjusts to all hairlines and head/beard sizes, strong (plastic, rubber design and durable), light-weight (carry it anywhere you go) and small.
No more worrying about carrying bulky items while you’re traveling.
“It
was because of necessity. I couldn’t afford to go to the barber every
week…you know? I just didn’t have the time, really. So, creating The Cut
Buddy was basically a guide that allowed me to line-up, shape-up [and] tape-up my hair perfectly, quickly and on time.” – Joshua Esnard (Founder),
Official Site
The Cut Buddy ships worldwide, uses most payment methods, including Pay-Pal and even has a military order form.
“The
product works for a military man who is overseas and can’t get to a
barber. It works for a barber that’s in training…the product has been
very special and we’re looking forward to moving to new heights and
providing people [with] a tool that allows them to be more confident.” –
Joshua Esnard (Founder), Official Site
It
also makes it possible for you to keep a line-up fresh in between
barber visits. $14.99 plus shipping is an excellent deal compared to the
hundreds of dollars that are often spent at the barbershop.
The Cut
Buddy is helping people all around the world become bosses at cutting
their own hair.
“Scene after scene, this video reminded me that our lives and culture matter. The most empowering part of the video is seeing a group of Black women working as a unit in a formation. They move together in sync as one. The video is absolutely an homage to Black lives.”
So the journey begins. We were flying out of the teeny George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The late morning flight to Chicago allowed for a nice rest the night before. Breakfast on the plane was granola and some pastries. I skipped. Am sorry but Babcock University traumatized me. I have had enough granola for a lifetime.
I stuck with just OJ thank you very much.
Even with a 2 hour layover at Chicago, we were rushing to make the flight because of really long lines at security. Am talking wrap-around-counter-spill-outside lines. Luckily Cathay was so nice to get us in Naija style AKA cutting the line. A quick stop at the not-so-impressive lounge to grab some snacks and send off a few emails, then we were off.
The Cathay flight from Chicago to Hong Kong was amazing! I mean it is the best I have ever flown hands down. I was welcomed in and the air hostess pronounced my last name and showed me to my seat. Am sorry but to some of yall folks that sounds normal, but having a “complicated” last name that gets butchered all the time, when the lady said hi and my name correctly phonetically I was like what!!!!!!:
Settled in for the 3:30pm take off. Champagne and snacks in tow. Lets get this trip rolling. I was already looking forward to the 15 hour flight.
.
On a side note people, is it bootleg that my passport is held together by a hair band???? :
I couldn’t seem to find a rubber band and last minute improvisations must suffice. lol.
Wasted no time in changing to the PJs provided waiting for my food (sorry but throughout the course of reading my blog posts you will come to one universal conclusion: I love food).
Even madam got in on the act
Its a pretty big seat and after takeoff the pull-out tray turns to a table bit enough for two people with someone seating across.
The menu was pretty extensive. It was too much food and I just could not control myself.
Started with Caviar and champagne.
Then it was the proper lunch. I was already full off the breads and caviar at first I didn’t think I could actually eat lunch. I contemplated a few jogs up and down the cabin but when the food came I destroyed it. It was that good.
One of the most important benefits of having a travel companion is that you guys can go halfsies on food. We split the sea bass and beef fillet; which really means I ate a lot and gave madam a few pieces :)
Desert was delectable as well. I opted for the healthy option of seasonal berries with as much sanguineness as someone who orders a triple mac wrapped with chicken buns, supersized fries and a large “diet coke”. Madam didn’t see the need to indulge in healthy delusions and got something more desserty.
I went on to nap and actually got productive, writing some code for my pet (read: about to become a multi-million dollar business so investors out there stay tuned) project that I have been lollygagging on.
I slept some more and got some stir fried steakfor dinner
15 hours flew by quick! Next thing I know the pilot is announcing that we are approaching Hong Kong. Landed safely and disembarked to the airport.
It was pretty mellow at the airport. For some reason I was expecting the great Hong Kong airport to be teeming with lots of people but it was just a few people here and there catching flights. It still was a very pretty airport and we made our way to the Cathay lounge. Again, Cathay outshone other lounges hands down. Massages in the lounge, noodles bar, drinks, a full buffet, cabanas, showers. I had a quick shower and then headed to catch the connection to Bangkok.
The shower was good and had everything you could think of.
On the flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok I knocked out for the most of it. It was a short 2 hours so it went by quick as well. Landed and had a funny incident at immigration. AGAIN, my Nigerian passport gave me wahala (trouble). I was told that “Because I hold a Nigerian passport, I would have to see a doctor and clear with them before being allowed through immigration”. WTF!!! See a doctor?!!!! Ebola ended ages ago. haha. There was a health screening office in the terminal that handles the screening so we walked over there:
I was asked a few questions by some dude who was more interested in beating Candy Crush level 189 than bothering to do his job properly. He stamped my immigration entry form and cleared me. WTF. He didn’t even glance up much to chat or do any medical examination.
I got a stamp clearing me for yellow fever or something. Very funny. After all that it was a taxi to the hotel in Bangkok and sleep. Got in to the hotel around 1am and basically knocked out. The real adventure begins in the morning. Adios
